In animal welfare news, Australian wetlands support the growth of waterbird colonies. Scientists at the Australian National University have reported that Queensland’s Channel Country wetland has become a breeding ground for up to 25 different species. Some locations have seen as many as 70,000 pairs of pelicans nesting. Other colonies have had large numbers of egrets, ibis, herons, and spoonbills.

Our thankfulness, Australian National University researchers, for highlighting this positive development. May our exquisite feathered friends evermore find safe and nurturing habitats in each of our shared lands.
