Increasingly
since the 1970s, the Brittany region in the northwest of France has
experienced the phenomenon of “green tides” in which huge quantities of
Chlorophytas algae remain suspended in the water.
The algae has
not only caused beaches to close and affected tourism, it also emits
the toxic and lethal hydrogen sulfide as it dries.
Experts say
the algae has appeared in Brittany’s waters due to global warming,
which creates conditions for new species to flourish, as well as animal
agriculture, which pollutes the waters with phosphorus and nitrogen,
causing the algae into further bloom.
Mr. Jean-François
Piquot, spokesman for the Water and Rivers of Brittany Association, is
recommending the avoidance of these concentrated animal operations.
Thank you scientists, Mr. Piquot and Water and Rivers of Brittany Association, for your insights and suggestions.
Let
us all do our part by making organic
vegan choices at every meal to
return Brittany to her long-admired beauty and our ecosphere to balance
and harmony.
Always working to better the quality of life on
Earth, Supreme Master Ching Hai again emphasized the need to adopt a
plant-based lifestyle during a July 2008 videoconference with Supreme
Master Television staff.
Supreme Master Ching Hai:
If people are well-informed on time, they can take measures against
calamity by heeding wise counsel and react according to correct advice.
Things can always change overnight if people turn and walk in
the right direction. We know meat eating, scientifically, physically
speaking is the major cause of our planet’s destructive direction.
Then
we must turn around and walk in the opposite direction. The opposite of
meat diet is a vegetarian, compassionate diet. All the animal products,
all the killing of men or animals must be stopped if we want to stop
the climate change. Stop killing and global warming will stop,
immediately, because we turn in the other direction.
