Researchers from NEC Corporation, a major multinational firm and producer of information technology, and Tohoku University announced the development of an invention that would halt energy consumption from computers, televisions, and other electronic items when they are in standby mode.

Normally, when electric devices are plugged in, even though they are turned off, they are still receiving a flow of electricity. NEC expects the new technology to reduce power consumption in households by 2%, and in facilities having many computers by about 25%.

Congratulations, NEC Corporation and Tohoku University, on this Earth-friendly advancement.
We look forward to hearing about more such beneficial innovations.
