Climate change conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Climate change conference in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. On Tuesday, January 27, the event “Global Warming – SOS International Conference on Urgent Problems of Climate Change,” organized by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association members in Mongolia, took place at the Central Palace of Culture in Ulaanbaatar, the country’s capital. More than 1,130 guests attended, including hundreds of dignitaries and various organization leaders. Among the VIPs who attended were Mongolian Parliament Member Mr. B. Batbayar; Former Mongolian Prime Minister Sodnom Dumaa; Former Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Governor of Ulaanbaatar Mr. Ganbold Davaadorj; Dr. Enkhtuvshin Batbold, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences; Mr. Tsedendambaa Samdan, Religious and Church Affairs Advisor to the President of Mongolia, and Mr. Od Och, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister of Mongolia.

As the conference’s honored guest, Supreme Master Ching Hai graciously attended, answering the questions from distinguished members of science, government and other communities.

The event was covered by 22 media groups, including major newspapers “Unen,” “Zuunii medee,” and “Mongoliin medee,” Mongolian National Radio and FM105.5, and national television channels TV9, Mongolian National Broadcasting’s MM agency, and Eagle TV. Radio station FM105.5, TV9 along with Supreme Master Television broadcast the conference live for its audiences.

The conference began with a special message from Mongolian President Enkhbayar Nambar, who along with his well wishes had sent his advisor to represent him as His Excellency himself was unable to attend. Videolink greetings also arrived from the Director of the Soil Association in the United Kingdom Patrick Holden and Policy Director of the same organization Lord Peter Melchett.

Jugder Dulam – Scientific Secretary of Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (F): There is a strong evidence of global warming and climate change in Mongolia from the research and observation of the past 60 years. What can we do to neutralize the effects of climate change or adapt to the forthcoming changes?

Supreme Master Ching Hai: First of all, and the most important thing: that we have to stop global warming by choosing a sustainable diet that is vegetarian or vegan. This will almost immediately stabilize the planet, the weather, and then we can think about adapting to the changes. I hope we don’t have to adapt, but otherwise it might be too late. If we don’t take care of the problem, we will have no planet to even adapt to. The Gobi Desert, which covers the Mongolian landscape, it is a fragile ecosystem that is easily destroyed by overgrazing. This results in the desert land turning into stony wasteland, where not even camels can survive. It’s a very sad affair and very urgent. So in order to neutralize the effects of global warming, such as these land changes resulting from the evermore severe climate, we must stop the raising of livestocks to kill for food. We must live a vegan, animal-free, cruelty-free lifestyle according to Buddhist teaching, and according to scientific evidence that this is the best way for us to stop the global warming, and the fastest and the most efficient and the most long lasting.

VOICE: Following the global warming conference was a ceremony celebrating the release of the new Mongolian and Russian editions of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s “The Birds in My Life,” a #1 international bestselling book. Afterward, a grand musical concert was held as a dedication to Mother Earth, with Supreme Master Ching Hai as the special honored guest.

Thank you to all the concerned and caring participants of this important gathering. We are grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her dedicated assistance that strengthens our understanding and gives the loving support the world needs. May we also be fortified in our determination and action to save our precious planet.

Please tune in to Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom for the full rebroadcast of this live event at a later date, with multi-language subtitles.

The best diet is the vegan diet :Interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai by Vegan World Radio

The best diet is the vegan diet. The respected American nutrition scientist and physian Dr. Neal Barnard is well known for his studies proving that a vegan diet halts and even reverses the effects of diabetes and heart disease. The benefits of plant-based living, however, are not just physical, but also mental, emotional and
spiritual.

On January 26, during a live broadcast interview, Vegan World Radio host Shirley Wilkes-Johnson asked Supreme Master Ching Hai to expand on the extent of these positive effects that follow after switching to a vegan diet.

Host(f): Let’s talk about the joy of being vegan, you know it makes your feel better. How good it feels, how delicious the food is, and things like that.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Of course, you’re right. It’s all delicious, healthy and guilt-free. It doesn’t drag us down in our conscience, because when the animals die, they agonize. They suffer so much.

Host (f):We are eating misery when we eat animals.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Yes, so when we eat, we cannot avoid the transmission of this kind of feeling. Even though we try to ignore it,it will manifest in some form or another, like sickness or trouble,
mentally fatigued or mentally unwell. So on the contrary, if we eat the benevolent food, then our health will be better and we’ll have more mental sharpness. Yes, and we can make our life better, more comfortable, more clear, more enlightened, more intelligent. All disease will leave us. All happiness and contentment come our way, all blessing we can feel every day, all miracles happen frequently. The best for us is vegan diet.

VOICE: We thank Ms. Wilkes-Johnson and Vegan World Radio for the lives-saving messages you broadcast for your listeners.

Our gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai whose deep concern for the well-being of both animals and humans can be felt from afar. May we quickly choose to walk the brighter path of veganism that ensures not
only the planet’s survival but its happiness as well.

Rainforests show recovery when given the chance.

Experts gathering at a recent Smithsonian Institute symposium in Washington DC, USA, reported that about 1.7 percent of the world’s total deforested areas have been growing back at a relatively swift rate when undisturbed by humans. However, the new forests do not possess the same capacities for supporting diverse ecosystems or for absorbing as much carbon dioxide. Studies conducted by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Center indicate that half of the world’s original tropical rainforests have already been felled and continue to be cut down at a rate of 32 million acres a year.

Symposium attendees, we appreciate your expertise findings about the vital rainforests. May we quickly adopt practices to preserve and enable the recovery of our precious trees to support the planet’s survival.

Supreme Master Ching Hai explained during a videoconference with our Association members in Canada why planting trees is not the ultimate solution to solving the climate crisis.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: So, planting trees are good, but the tree we plant will not be as big immediately like the tree that we have lost in this case, and in probably many other forests around the world, which we have not discovered yet, or that have not been reported. So planting trees alone is not the absolute solution. We have to be vegetarian.

Even if we try to cut out carbon dioxide from the cars and transportation and all that, and nature is doing something else to us, because we are not taking care of our moral standard, and our virtuous way of life has been lacking somewhat, to some degree. The only refuge we can take is in our own virtues. We have to be compassionate again. We have to look into our heart to live the noble way that Heaven intended us to live.
