Earth to heat significantly more quickly in the next five years.
A study by Dr. Judith Lean of the US Naval Research Laboratory and Dr. David Rind of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Goddard Institute for Space Studies, focused on the effects of four factors. These were: CO2 emissions; heating from the sun; volcanic activity; and the El Niño, a cyclic pattern during which the Pacific Ocean goes into a warmer state.

Their study found these factors combined are likely to cause a 150 percent more rapid rise in temperatures than those forecast by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Award-winning journalist Robert Henson of the National Centre for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, USA remarked that the Copenhagen meetings scheduled for this December may in fact be taking place during one of the warmest Decembers in history.

We thank Dr. Lean, Dr. Rind, Robert Henson, and all scientists whose work reveals the enormity of the planetary crisis. Let us all heed these warning signs and alleviate climate change through sustainable, Earth-friendly lives.

Supreme Master Ching Hai frequently responds to requests to share her wisdom for planetary well-being, as she did in this March 2009 videoconference in California, USA when she spoke of
the quickest way to halt rising temperatures.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Climate scientists are telling us more and more that if we reduce the livestock industry, we’d reduce methane. And that is the most immediate way to cool the planet, because CO2 from fossil fuel may take tens of thousands of years,

to leave the atmosphere and cool the planet, according to the research. But methane is hotter than CO2, and dissipates on average over 10 years or 20 years. The latest report from IPCC scientist Dr. Kirk Smith in the USA said that methane  could be 60 to100 times hotter than CO2 averaged over 20 years.
So, if methane is reduced, the warming will be reduced immediately.
So, the way we reduce the methane is by reducing animal agriculture.

Prince Charles contributes to rainforest preservation.
His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales has donated US$2.8 billion to preserve the tropical rain forests in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Congo, Costa Rica and Mexico. With a substantial portion going to Indonesia to address the severely impacted state of her forests, the country’s Minister of Environment Rachmat Witoelar affirmed, "In the next five years, we must plant two billion trees, or 400 million trees per year. Otherwise our forests will be history.”

Our gratefulness and Heaven bless Your Royal Highness for your generosity in helping save the treasured lungs of our Earth at this urgent hour. May your steadfast example inspire countless others toward greater stewardship of the planet we call home.

US city enacts Green Food Resolution to promote eating veg.
The new declaration recognizes the health and environmental benefits of plant-based foods and affirms that such nourishment will be made more easily accessible to city residents.
Proposed by Alderman Margaret Laurino and advocated by Liz Mills, Executive Director of Irving Park Carlson Ministries, Chicago’s City Council voted to approve the measure. This marks the first accomplishment in a campaign sponsored by US-based Farm Sanctuary to adopt the Green Food Resolution in cities nationwide.

Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary said, “We applaud Alderman Laurino and the City of Chicago … By promoting access to healthy, plant-based food, Chicago has proven they are second to none in protecting the health of their citizens, the environment and the billions of animals raised for food in deplorable conditions on factory farms each year.”

Alderman Laurino, Ms. Liz Mills and Chicago City Council, we join in lauding your auspicious leadership in providing ample access to wholesome plant-based food. Wishing all Chicagoans and residents nationwide the personal and planetary gains of a delicious vegan diet.
