The Colombian government has announced that since August 2002, nearly 20,000 persons from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the National Liberation Army (ELN) have voluntarily relinquished their weapons, with approximately 265 being surrendered in July.

The Colombian government has pledged to provide them with proper treatment.
