In analyzing data from her studies of toads that resided about 74 kilometers from the epicenter of Italy’s 2009 L'Aquila earthquake, British biologist Dr. Rachel Grant found that 96% of the male frogs had disappeared about five days before the devastating temblor.

Within three days of the quake, all couples had also left the site.
Further study revealed that this behavior coincided with changes in the ionosphere, which is the uppermost layer of the Earth’s atmosphere, which also sometimes correspond with the release of radon gas before a quake.

Dr. Grant stated, "Our findings suggest that toads are able to detect pre-seismic cues such as the release of gases and charged particles, and use these as a form of earthquake early warning system."

Our appreciation, Dr. Grant, for bringing to light the amazing intelligence of the toads. May these and all such Divinely created co-inhabitants be ever respected and loved.
