REFUGEES
- The United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) distributes food to approximately 20,000 displaced people in Yemen.
- UNICEF assists 350,000 displaced people in the Democratic Republic of Congo with medical services, nutritional aid, temporary shelter and other goods.
- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) organized the return of 53 Liberian refugees to their homes with aid for smooth transition back to the community.

- As part of a US$90 million project following the tsunami in Indonesia, UNICEF opened the first two of 370 permanent schools.
- UNICEF provided emergency aid to help thousands of cholera victims in northern Iraq, and also launched a prevention campaign.

- Eight thousand personnel set out to immunize the children of Iraq from measles.
