Em Moçambique, distúrbios alimentares em resposta ao aumento do preço do pão levaram a 10 mortos e 300 feridos. (Setembro de 2010) • A alta dos preços dos alimentos, que provocou mortais distúrbios alimentares no mundo todo em 2008, ocorreu devido a uma combinação da mudança climática e do aumento da demanda por forragem a partir de populações da Índia e da China. (Programa Alimentar Mundial das Nações Unidas) • O número de pessoas que sofrem de fome ultrapassou 1 bilhão pela primeira vez em 2009. • Mais de 9 milhões de pessoas morrem anualmente no mundo por causa da fome e da desnutrição. Cinco milhões são crianças.
