Drought conditions continue in East African countries -22 Mar 2011

According to recent information released by the World Meteorological Organization, drought conditions continue in East African countries such as Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and even Uganda,with currently about  5 million affected and 150,000 in northern Kenya in urgent need of food aid.

China’s State Administration of Grain chief, Nie Zhenbang, states that despite a recent winter drought, the nation's wheat harvest has emerged intact, thanks to late seasonal precipitation and drought-alleviating efforts such as irrigation.
