Stronger coastal winds due to climate change may have far-reaching effects
Increasing coastal winds disturb both land and sea. University of California, Santa Cruz, USA earth scientist and climate change expert, Dr. Mark Snyder, presented study findings showing that California winds have been getting stronger over the past 30 years. The study indicated that a continued increase could lead to the intense upwelling of colder coastal waters, which would then create dead zones as the microscopic algae brought to the surface would remove oxygen from the water as it later decomposed. On land, the higher winds would cause more dangerous fire conditions.

Dr. Snyder and colleagues, we thank you for bringing to light this link between human-caused climate change and disturbances to the environment. May humanity be inspired toward actions that protect our valuable and interconnected ecosystems.

In an interview with radio host James Bean of Spiritual Awakening Radio broadcast in the United States, Supreme Master Ching Hai explained how a meat diet is the cause of many of the world’s ills and she offers the solution to solving climate change and its devastating effects.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: According to all UN and scientific evidences and research, a meat diet is the main cause for global warming, pollution of our air, water shortage, land waste, deforestation, dead zones in the ocean, world hunger and consequently, war as well. The most important aspect about vegetarianism is that we could save lives, not the lives of animals that will not be slaughtered for meat only, but to save our planet. Be Veg, Go Green, do good deeds. Very simple. And I promise, if people do this, we will have Heaven on Earth within months. And all the ice cap will come back. Weather patterns will change. Hunger will stop. And we will be blessed with so many visionary inventions that we never thought possible. We will have blessing from Heaven, and everything will be possible after that.

The pink iguanas, which were first seen in 1986, are now understood to be a distinct species from other land iguanas. What an exciting discovery! May the unique pink iguanas forever flourish in the natural habitat of their island home.

Tesla To Supply Batteries for Smart Car
The future of Smart Car is electric. Following on its success with a small, energy-efficient and affordable car, German carmaker Smart, a division of Daimler AG, plans to bring an electric version of the two passenger vehicle to the United States in 2010. US-based Tesla Motors is supplying the battery packs, which will be housed under the body to free up space in the interior. Fully charged, the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is expected to have a range of around 115 kilometers, with a maximum speed of approximately 112 kilometers per hour, and zero CO2 emissions. Bravo Smart Car for your next-generation vehicle, which is sure to be greener-than-ever! We wish you much success in bringing clean and quiet rides to people worldwide.
