Irish Sunday Independent interviews Supreme Master Ching Hai.
An interview of Supreme Master Ching Hai by journalist Ben Murnane will appear in the Sunday Independent newspaper this Sunday, July 12. Supreme Master Ching Hai's wisdom on the climate crisis has been sought by media and distinguished persons in conferences worldwide.

In this interview, she responds to questions about important issues of global warming needing to be addressed to save the planet

Ben Murnane – Irish journalist and author (M): The Irish Department of Agriculture reports an 80% rise in the number of new applicants applying to convert to organic production. How does organic farming benefit the environment and our health?

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Wow, I am so happy for your country. Wow, congratulations! My heartfelt thanks to your government’s bright leadership and the Irish people who support it, especially the smart responsible organic farmers as well. Organic vegan farming is what should be promoted, actually.

This one benefits our health because it avoids hundreds of pesticides as well as insecticide residues in our food, the antibiotics, and the unnatural additives which have been linked to countless diseases.
Organic farming absorbs CO2 as well. The Rodale Institute found that it even helps to overcome greenhouse gases by absorbing 40% of CO2 in the soil if it is practised worldwide.

40% is absorbed already! We don’t need to wait even for solar technology or anything else. So for our health and for the planet, organic vegan farming is the solution.

VOICE: This article in the Irish Sunday Independent, the country's most widely read weekly newspaper, will be available this coming Sunday, July 12, 2009, in all SHOPS, NEWSPAPER STANDS AND AIRPORTS NATIONWIDE IN IRELAND AND THROUGHOUT THE UNITED KINDGOM, as well as through the airlines Aerlingus and Ryanair.

Mr. Ben Murnane and Irish Sunday Independent, we appreciate your concerned endeavors to raise public awareness about the urgent need for action.

We send our gratefulness to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her ongoing care and insights for our survival at this fragile time. May the many Sunday Independent readers, and more, benefit from such discussions as these to act quickly in adopting sustainable lifestyles across the globe.

Please tune in for the broadcast of this interview at a later date on Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom with multi-language subtitles.

Arctic sea ice at its lowest in 800 years.
Utilizing new historical data, Danish researchers from the Niels Bohr Institute in Denmark
concluded from their most recent study that sea ice is now lower than at any time in the past 800 years. At this unprecedented rate of ice melt, not only will all the ice in the North Pole be gone within a few decades, the vast stretches of frozen land known as tundra and its underlying permafrost will also thaw, with a release of potentially massive carbon stores.

This would cause immediate spikes in global temperature with possible runaway global warming. Moreover, the current conditions suggest a soon decline of biodiversity such as polar bear populations with their extinction almost certain when the ice is gone.

Danish researchers and Niels Bohr Institute, many thanks for your detailed work in revealing the extent of our current planetary dilemma. We pray that more leaders and individuals act to halt this trend: for the animals, for humankind and for our environment.

Supreme Master Ching Hai has frequently expressed her care for humanity in light of the dire conditions we face. On December 25, 2007, during an international seminar with our Association members, she spoke about the Arctic ice melt that is induced by human activities.

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Because the ice is reflecting the sun, and sends it back into the space, but the ice is melting so fast now, that there’s not enough reflection and because the sea is already warm,

it melts the ice. And because the ice melts, the sea gets warmer. You see what I mean, the cycle? So that’s why they could not calculate it well. And so it keeps warming faster than they think.

I always talk about how we deforest our planet.Meat eating and all that contributes to a lot of damage to our Earth.

If it were up to me, I’d forbid everybody to eat meat. Stop immediately.

Kenyan land converted from cattle farms to fruitful crops.
A recent purchase by the Kenyan government has allowed thousands of families to acquire land. Prior to the US$16.5 million purchase, the 28,300 hectares of rich soil had been used for cattle farming and as a private game reserve.

Now, nearly 3,000 families are tilling their new properties and cultivating food such as wheat, beans and maize. Speaking of decades-long suffering that has now come to an end, 75-year-old resident James Mwangi said, “I can only thank God and the government for … giving me a piece of land.”

We are grateful, Kenya, for your thoughtful gesture in reallocating this land to replenish families’ lives.
May everyone soon adopt the wholesome organic vegan lifestyle to ensure the most lasting comfort and well-being for both people and the Earth.
