After hearing the public and political concerns regarding a proposed introduction of dairy factory farms into New Zealand, Environment Minister Nick Smith has halted the plan while a special board of inquiry is set up by the Ministry of Environment to evaluate its national impact.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key expressed concern to the Parliament about the potential environmental damage of such intensive farming practices. Your Excellencies, our appreciation for your proactive decision and reconsideration of the detrimental impacts of factory farming.
We pray that further knowledge will lead to the wise decision of foregoing animal farming altogether for the conservation of both resources and precious lives.
