A construction worker in western China was discovered to have contracted the deadly rodent-borne disease soon after he hunted and ate a marmot on the site where he had been working.

The Bubonic plague is an infection that enters through the skin or bloodstream, traveling quickly through the body’s lymph system. Despite numerous emergency rescue measures, the man sadly perished within a few hours.

Local government officials immediately launched emergency response measures to halt any spreading of the plague, also reminding the public that Ministry of Health regulations forbid the hunting, sale and transportation of marmots.

Our condolences to the man's family as we also pray that such an incident reminds us to look to the animal-free diet for a humane and stable source of health.
Blessed be all efforts toward the safe and peaceful world born of kinder regard for our fellow co-inhabitants.
