Through the use of a radar device, researchers of Mexico’s National University discovered the passage way under the Temple of the Snake in Teotihuacan.

The site contains some of the largest pyramids constructed in pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica. It is believed the tunnel, which is 120 meters long and approximately 13 meters below the ground, was closed off about 1,800 years ago. Several rooms were located at the end of the tunnel.

Kudos, archaeologists, on this significant finding. May our understanding of the incredible civilizations of the past help us create a happier and more harmonious future.
