확인된 감염 사례의 수가 4개 대륙 21개국가를 걸쳐 1,124명을 초과하였으며 미국은 공중보건 비상사테를 선포하였고, WHO 의장인 마거릿 첸 박사는 "재출현하면 세계가 21세기에 직면하였던 모든 유행병 발생 중 최대가 될 것입니다. 이 상황은 변화 가능한데 우리가 이를 과대 혹은 과소 평가하는 것이 아니라 독감 바이러스는 예측할 수 없게 계속 변할 수 있기 때문입니다"라고 말하였습니다.

하야티 하산 (제네바 세계보건기구 대변인, 여성): 세계적인 유행병이 우리에게 위험하게 다가오고 있지만 정확히 언제 일어날 지는 모릅니다. 그리고 제가 말한 것처럼 4단계에서 5단계로 높였습니다.

하야티 하산: 6단계만 남았지요. 그 이유는 바이러스에 관한 많은 불확실성 때문입니다. 아직도 이 바이러스에 대해 많이 모릅니다. 바이러스의 특성과 어떻게 퍼지는지에 대하여 잘 모릅니다. 유행성 A형 바이러스나 독감 바이러스는 빈번히 돌연변이되는 악명 높은 바이러스 가운데 하나라고 사료됩니다. 따라서 이 바이러스는 기하급수적으로 확신될 위험성이 항상 있습니다.

음성: 캐나다는 감염된 농장 노동자가 바이러스를 돼지에게 재 전이시킨 것을 발견한 후, 인간을 재 감염시키는 새로운 바이러스 형태로 돌연변이될 가능성이 높아져 WHO 식품안전 과학자 피터 벤 엠베어크는 신종 독감의 징후 포학을 위해 동물 감시 경계를 촉구하였습니다. 총 20개국에서 자국민 보호를 위해 돼지와 돼지고기 제품에 대한 수입금지를 결정하였습니다.

As the number of confirmed cases exceeds 1,124 across 21 countries on four continents, the United States declared a public health emergency, and WHO chief Dr. Margaret Chan warned of a second surge of the swine flu virus.

She stated, “If it's going to happen, it would be the biggest of all outbreaks the world has faced in the 21st century. This situation can change, not because we are overestimating or underestimating the situation, but simply because influenza viruses are constantly changing in unpredictable ways.”

Supreme Master Television asked World Health Organization Technical Officer Hayatee Hasan about the present and future of the swine flu, also known as influenza A H1N1.

Supreme Master TV : What is the potential for this epidemic to spread to a pandemic

Hayatee Hasan – World Health Organization spokesperson in Geneva (F): A pandemic is imminent. We are moving towards a pandemic but we don’t know exactly when it will happen. And like I said we have moved from phase 4 to phase 5.

Supreme Master TV :um hum, That’s pretty high.

Hayatee Hasan (F): Out of 6, yes, the reason being there is a lot of uncertainty about the virus. We still do not know a lot about the virus. We don’t know its full characteristics, how the disease is spread. And influenza A viruses or flu viruses are notoriously known as one of the viruses that mutates frequently. So there is always a risk that the virus may spread exponentially.

VOICE: After Canada found an infected factory farm worker had transferred the virus back to pigs, thus increasing chances for it to mutate into a new viral form that could re-infect humans, WHO food safety scientist Peter Ben Embarek urged for vigilance in monitoring animal populations for signs of a new flu.
A total of 20 countries have decided to ban importation of pigs and pork products to protect their populations.

Supreme Master TV : How was it determined that it came from pigs?

Hayatee Hasan (F): Because it has been documented that this influenza A H1N1 is known to circulate in pigs. Now the influenza A H1N1 virus is circulating among humans.

Supreme Master TV :Do you expect to find more cases?

Hayatee Hasan (F): Yes, we do.
