지구온난화로 더욱 심각한 열파가 예상됩니다.

네덜란드 왕립 기상 연구소의 선임 연구원 안드레아스 스털 박사가 개발한  컴퓨터 모델링은 지구 온난화로 세계 여러 지역에서  심각한 열파가 증가할 거라고 예상합니다. 스털 박사는 2003년에 프랑스에서만 1만 5천 명의 생명을 앗아간 것과 같은 열파가 잦아지고 강도가 높아질 거라고 합니다. 위스콘신 대학  환경건강학 조나단 파츠 교수는 그런 온난화 양상의 위험을 확신하며 말하길 『극한 기온은  신체에, 특히 심장병 환자에게 큰 부담이 됩니다. 노인들은  가장 취약하죠.』 기후변화의  또 다른 위험한 영향을 일깨워준 스털과 파츠 박사님께 감사드립니다. 모두 협력해  현시대의 시급한 상황을 해결하고 시원하고 지속 가능한  행성을 보장하길 바랍니다.

More extreme heat waves can be expected with global warming.

Computer modeling developed by Dr. Andreas Sterl, senior researcher of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), forecasts increasingly severe heat waves in different parts of the world as global temperatures rise. Dr. Sterl stated that there will be a higher number and intensity of heat waves such as the one that took place in Europe in 2003, which claimed the lives of 15,000 people in France alone. University of Wisconsin environmental health professor Dr. Jonathan Patz affirmed the dangers posed by such warming patterns, saying, "Extreme temperature puts a huge demand on the body, especially anyone with heart problems. The elderly are the most vulnerable."
