북극 빙하 해빙의 영향이 큽니다.

캐나다 퀘벡에서 열린 국제 북극 변화 컨퍼런스에서 천명 이상의 과학자들과 １６개국 대표들이 만남을 갖고 북극의 빙하 감소 미래에 대해 논의했습니다. 국제 극년 계획 본부의 책임자인 해양학자 다비드 칼슨 박사는 북극 빙해의 완전해빙은 기후와 날씨 패턴에 엄청난 영향을 미칠 것이며 영구동토의 해빙 또한 이미 건물 붕괴와 지역민들의 삶에 적응을 위한 변화가 불가피하는 등의 문제를 이미 일으키고 있다고 지적했습니다. 국제 북극 변화 컨퍼런스에 참여하셔서 온난화에 대한 생존을 위해 생존을 위해 중대한 정보를 교환하신 분들께 감사드립니다. 천국의 은총으로 지구의 모든 생명을 지속하기 위해 세계가 채식과 같은 효과적인 해결책을 선택하길 바랍니다.

２００８년 ８월 １７일 칭하이 무상사는 빙하 해빙의 위험한 영향에 대해 호주 협회원들에게 말씀하셨습니다

칭하이 무상사: 당연히 얼음이 녹으면 적어도 해안지역 그 영향을 많이 받을 겁니다. 하지만 걱정되는 건 수면상승만이 아녜요. 가스가 문제죠. 황화수소와 메탄과 해양의 온갖 가스들이 문제죠. 메탄이 영구동토층 같은 데서 방출되면 더 많은 얼음이 녹을 겁니다. 바다에서뿐 아니라 온갖 가축사육에서 방출되죠. 이들이 계속 더해지면 가스는 오랫동안 대기 중에 머물 것입니다. 일단 지구가 파괴되면 화성처럼 보일 겁니다. 화성처럼 될 거예요. 생명이 살 수 없죠. 그리고 다시 회복되는 데 수백만 년이나 때론 수 억년의 시간이 걸릴 겁니다. 회복된다면요. 회복되어야 할 이유가 있다면요. 우리는 바꿔야 합니다. 빨리 바꿀수록 좋고 그럼 기후변화를 막을 수 있을 겁니다. 빠르게 이 행성을 재건할 수 있지요. 곧바로요. 그렇지 않으면 곧바로 지구는 빠르게 파괴될 것입니다. 재난의 과정을 바꾸길 기대합시다. 사람들이 바뀔 거라고 긍정적으로 생각해요. 호주뿐만 아니라 세계 곳곳에서 재난이 비켜갈 거라고요. 사람들은 변할 겁니다. 난 그걸 느껴요. 대다수의 사람들이 변할 것입니다. 지구 인구의 ２／３만 바뀌어도 지구를 구하고 복구할 수 있습니다.

이집트가 태양열 발전 계획을 진행합니다.

전기에너지부 장관 핫산 유니스는 토요일 ２억 ２천만 달러 １４０ 메가와트 태양열 발전소의 첫 시설이 이집트 쿠라이맷에 설치될 거라고 발표했습니다. ２０１０년 １０월까지 착수될 이 발전소는 일본의 １억 ７천만 달러 저리 대출과 미국에 기반을 둔 세계 환경시설의 ５천만 달러 기부에 의해 공동자금 형태로 건설될 것입니다. 탄소배출을 줄여줄 이집트의 이 놀라운 친환경 계획에 귀하와 이집트에 경의를 표합니다！ 이처럼 청정하고 지속가능한 에너지 사업이 전 지구에 퍼지기를 바랍니다.

수온의 증가로 어류들이 더 많은 문제에 직면합니다.

스페인 해양과학자 연구소, 바르셀로나의 프란시스 피퍼러 박사는 수온이 어류의 성별을 어떻게 결정짓는지에 대한 보고서 선임 저자입니다. 그의 연구에서 유엔 기후변화 정부간 위원회가 예상한대로 섭씨 ４도 온도가 증가하면 일부 종들은 ６５에서 ９８％까지 수컷의 비율이 늘어나 수컷의 비율이 늘어나 멸종에 처하게 된다고 합니다. 해양 생물종의 취약함에 대한 소중한 정보에 피퍼러 박사와 해양과학자 연구소에 감사드립니다. 우리가 이를 이해하여 연약한 생태계를 존중하고 보호하길 바랍니다. 

Arctic melt impact is far reaching.

At the International Arctic Change conference in Quebec City, Canada, over 1,000 scientists and indigenous representatives from 16 countries met to discuss the future as ice decreases in the Arctic. Oceanographer Dr. David Carlson, Director of the International Polar Year program office, said the complete loss of Arctic ice will have enormous effects on climate and weather patterns, with melting permafrost in the region already noted to be damaging buildings and requiring adaptive changes in the indigenous people’s lives.

140 Megawatt solar unit to be installed in Kuraimat

Egypt on course with thermal-solar power project. Minister of Electricity and Energy, Hassan Yunis, announced on Saturday that the first unit of a US$220 million 140-Megawatt thermal-solar power plant will be installed in Kuraimat, Egypt. With its launch expected in October 2010, the plant is being co-funded by a US$50 million donation from the US-based Global Environment Facility as well as a US$170 million low-interest loan from Japan. Kudos Your Excellency and Egypt for this wonderful green initiative to lighten your nation's carbon footprint! May clean, sustainable energy ventures such as these flourish across the globe.

Warming waters present more problems for fish.

Dr. Francesc Piferrer of the Barcelona, Spain’s Marine Scientist Institute is the lead author of a report on how water temperature determines the gender of ocean fish. His study found that an increase of 4 degrees Celsius, as predicted by the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change, increased the proportion of the males of certain fish species to between 65 and 98 percent, thus bringing on their likely demise. Dr. Piferrer and the Marine Scientist Institute, we thank you this crucial information on the vulnerability of ocean species.
