해안침식 저지를 위한 아프리카 국가들의 노력에도 불구하고 바다가 점점 기반시설과 농지 및 관광수입을 창출하는 주요 해변 지역을 침식하고 있습니다. 지구온난화로 인한 해수면 상승은 탄자니아와 남아공 나이지리아 같은 국가의 주민과 야생동물 모두에게 위협이 되고 있으며 남동 해안의 도시들은 이미 사라졌습니다. 기후변화의 영향을 받는 아프리카와 전세계를 위해 기도합니다. 지구온난화를 멈추고 소중한 지구 생명체 보존을 위한 인류의 의지를 촉구합니다.

작년 １２월 １２일 미국 캘리포니아의 유명인사와 매체와의 화상회의에서 칭하이 무상사는 해안침식과 이의 해결책을 말씀하셨습니다.

칭하이 무상사: 아주 많은 섬들이 이미 침수됐습니다. 많은 해안도시가 침식됐습니다. ２천 개 이상의 섬들이 침수됐고 １８개 섬들이, 아마 더 많을 수도 있지만 우리가 모르는 거지요. 작은 섬국가를 포함해 １８개 섬들이 이미 해저로 사라졌습니다. 해저 ６미터 깊이에 이미 잠긴 것도 있죠. 그리고 또 다른 ４０개 섬도 침수 위험에 처해 거주가 불가능해지거나 이미 살 수 없지요. 경작을 더 이상 할 수 없고 토지가 짠 바닷물에 이미 잠겼기 때문이에요. 전세계 사람들에게 간청하고 싶습니다. 제발 동물 살생을 멈추세요. 제발 자비를 갖고 채식으로 돌아 가세요. 제발 채식을 하세요. 그럼 여러분 자신과 자녀들을 구할 겁니다. 유기농 비건식이 해결책입니다.

웨일스 친환경 학교가 학생들을 맞습니다.

Rising seas consuming coastal areas across Africa.

In spite of efforts by a group of African nations to stave off coastal erosion, the sea is gradually taking away lands containing infrastructure, farmland and prime beaches that have brought beneficial tourism revenues to the countries. These higher sea levels resulting from global warming pose increasing threat to both humans and wildlife in countries like Tanzania and South Africa as well as Nigeria, where towns on the southeastern coast have already disappeared. Our prayers for all those affected by climate change in Africa and around the globe. We call upon humankind’s sincere determination to halt global warming and preserve precious lives on Earth.

Japan races to build zero emissions electric car

Japanese automakers looking toward zero-emissions vehicles. Full-scale production of the company’s next generation automobile is fast approaching with next year’s planned launch of Mitsubishi’s zero-emission iMiEV, an electric vehicle that runs 160 kilometers on one charge. Nissan is also planning an all-electric car to be available next year, and Toyota is developing a range of green cars as well. In July 2008 Honda began selling the fuel-cell vehicle FCX Clarity in the US, which produces electricity through a chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, with water as the only by-product. Cruising at up to 620 kilometers and able to recharge within minutes, the first 5 have been delivered to film producer Ron Yerxa and actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Eco-school opens doors to 300 pupils

Welsh eco-school welcomes students. An ultra-efficient facility built from sustainable timber has opened its doors to more than 300 pupils in Ysgol-y-Graig, North Wales. Along with generating electricity from photovoltaic tiles and a wind turbine, the building also features a green roof that provides a natural habitat for flora and fauna.
