칭하이 무상사와의 국제 세미나 소식입니다.

토요일 태국 방콕 부근의 파툼타니에서 칭하이 무상사 국제협회는 “ＳＯＳ 지구온난화를 멈추자” 세미나를 열고 칭하이 무상사의 세계적 베스트셀러 『사랑스런 내 인생의 새들』어울락어(베트남어)판 출시를 기념했습니다.

지구온난화 세미나는 아시아 기술 연구소와 유엔, 태국 국회에서 온 유명인사들의 강연으로 시작됐습니다. 주빈으로 초청된 칭하이 무상사는 자비롭게도 시간을 내셔서 대부분이 학계와 정부 인사인 귀빈들의 질문에 답하셨습니다.

칭하이 무상사: 기다려 볼 수밖에요. 언제 닥칠 지 모르고 어디서, 무엇을 준비할 수 있는 지 모르니까요. 설사 우리가 식량을 비축해도 늘 도움이 되는 건 아니고 세계식량부족을 심화시킬 뿐이죠. 우린 직접 창조할 수 있는 선업에 의지할 수밖에 없어요. 우린 할 수 있어요. 지금 바로 자비로운 채식으로 전환해 우리 자신을 구할 수 있어요. 타인에게 자비로우면 하늘은 우리에게 자비롭습니다.

세미나 후에 이어진 새책 발표는 그날의 토론에서 전달된 분명한 메시지를 전했습니다. 동물을 포함한 모든 중생을 사랑하라는 칭하이 무상사의 일깨움이었죠.

칭하이 무상사: 언젠가 전 세계가 깨어나 무고한 동물을 포함해 서로를 사랑하고 보호하길 희망합니다. 그럼 천상은 자비를 베풀어 우리의 생명과 우리 자녀의 생명을 구하고 지구는 계속 존재해 모두가 즐길 수 있을 겁니다.

지혜의 말씀과 예술적 출판물로 인류를 쉼 없이 일깨우시는 칭하이 무상사께 감사드립니다. 우리가 속히 사랑과 자비를 확대해 지상의 생명체를 궁극적으로 보호하기 바랍니다.

지구 온난화로 토탄지가 메마릅니다.

컴퓨터 모델링을 이용한 일본 연구에서 지속적인 온도 상승으로 야기되는 고대 토탄지의 건조현상은 대량으로 저장된 이산화탄소의 방출을 야기할 수 있음이 밝혀졌습니다. 일본 해양 지구 과학 기술국의 타케시 이세 씨는 이는 대기 중의 이산화탄소 증가를 의미하는 것으로 이로 인해 지구 온난화가 더욱 극심해 질 거라고 말하면서 토지에 저장된 탄소의 ８６％를 잃을 수 있다고 말했습니다.

기후변화 영향에 대해 새로운 통찰력을 보여준 타케시 이세 박사와 동료들께 감사드리며 우리의 소중한 고향 지구가 균형을 회복하도록 인류가 조치를 취하길 바랍니다.

International conferences with Supreme Master Ching Hai.

The global warming seminar began with lectures by distinguished representatives from the Asian Institute of Technology, the United Nations and the Thai Parliament. Supreme Master Ching Hai was invited as the guest of honor. She graciously provided time to answer questions from the attending dignitaries, many of whom were from academia and government.

Global warming dries carbon-storing peat lands.

A Japanese study using computer modeling found that the drying caused by continued rising temperatures in ancient peat marshes will potentially release large amounts of stored carbon dioxide. Takeshi Ise from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology explained that up to 86 percent of the land’s stored carbon could be lost, saying, “This… means an increase in carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere, which will further worsen global warming.”

Dr. Takeshi Ise and colleagues, we appreciate these new insights into the effects of climate change and we pray that humanity’s steps lead to a path that restores the balance of our precious planetary home.
