Interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai by Irish radio station

Interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai by Irish radio station. On Sunday, November 30, East Coast FM, one of the most popular radio stations in Ireland, invited Supreme Master Ching Hai as a guest to share with listeners her thoughts on vegetarianism’s link to personal and environmental health. East Coast FM’s program on Sunday night, co-hosted by Louise Kings and The Sandman, broadcast the interview live to a national and international audience.

Live interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai by East Coast FM Radio, Ireland Sunday, November 30, 2008 The following is an excerpt from the phone interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai.

Louise King (F):
Supreme Master, can you please help us to understand how reducing human caused methane will cool the planet faster than reducing CO2?

Supreme Master Ching Hai : Scientifically speaking, methane ends its effect much faster than uh… and it’s warmer than, than CO2, yeah? and its warming potential is greater than CO2. So if the methane are gone out, then we cool the planet quicker. Yeah? And The methane dissipates out of the atmosphere in 9 to 15 years, but the CO2 lingers for an estimated range of 40 to 200 yearsSo the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scientists say that eliminating livestock farming would be the fastest way to bring down methane and cool the planet, first buying critical time, you know, in the fight against global warming, as they said.

So in interview with the Supreme Master TV, Dr. Kirk Smith stated that the CO2 emissions could still be heating the planet thousand years after they are emitted. Can you imagine? So if we want to see the cooling of our planet in the next one or two decades, it’s more effective to reduce methane first. And because the greatest source of methane on the planet is from livestock, so to be a vegan is the fastest way to reduce methane, thus bring cooling to the planet successfully and fast.

VOICE: We appreciate Ms. Louise Kings, The Sandman, and East Coast FM’s shared concern and efforts to alert the public of the dire reality and solution to climate change.

We especially thank Supreme Master Ching Hai for her dedicated work to awaken people through sharing vital information and insights. We pray that all will embrace the powerful plant-based diet as the quickest way to reduce global warming and ensure life’s survival. Please tune in to Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom at a later date for the full broadcast of this interview with Supreme Master Ching Hai, with multi-language subtitles.

Soil erosion threatens land of 100m Chinese, survey finds

Land erosion threatens millions in China. A 60-year nationwide study in China shows an increase in soil erosion of as much as 4.5 billion tons a year. The trend, which is already evident in over 3.5 million square kilometers, is mainly attributed to unsustainable urbanization, farming and forestry practices, which enable erosion by wind and water.

Erosion in turn greatly affects crops, which are expected to drop by 40 percent in the north-east alone, as well as water resources, with increased risk to flooding. We share your concern over this significant matter, China. May we all be reminded of developing in harmony with our Earth, to ensure a sustainable future.

Forests May Play Overlooked Role In Regulating Climate

Forests provide further Earth-cooling properties. A study by scientists from the University of New Hampshire in the USA found that nitrogen in the leafy canopies of trees helps reflect sunlight back into space. While it was previously known that nitrogen-rich foliage helps remove CO2 from the atmosphere, this reflective property of nitrogen is new. Thus, trees with a high nitrogen content could be at least twice as effective in reducing atmospheric CO2 levels. What fascinating findings, University of New Hampshire scientists! We are heartened to know of the additional help offered by the life-giving forests and pray for humanity’s care in restoring the verdant balance of our ecosphere.

During a visit to the United States in 1992, Supreme Master Ching Hai had emphasized the importance of nature preservation to our Association members.

Excerpt from Supreme Master Ching Hai’s lecture: “Learning How To Love” June 24-25, 1992 - New Jersey, USA

Supreme Master Ching Hai: The trees are there for beauty and for protection. We should try to enjoy nature and preserve the natural environment. They are always good for us. Trees and water, forest, they also heal. Don’t you feel better when you walk a little bit in the forest? Your eyes feel better, no? Yes. And your lungs feel good and your skin feel smooth, and our mood is calmer.

That is all due to the nature, the trees and the air that they breathe out to give us the oxygen. Therefore it is very necessary to keep nature intact as much as we can. I like to preserve the trees not only because for me but it's for everyone, for America, for the world. Everywhere we go, we have to try to protect nature

Dolphin Population Stunted By Fishing Activities, Study Finds

Dolphins negatively impacted by fishing. The number of northeastern pantropical spotted dolphins in the Eastern Pacific Ocean continues to decline despite measures to keep them from being unintentionally caught by the fishing industry.

A recent study conducted by Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, USA concluded that fishing is also interfering with the dolphins’ reproductive cycle; hence the species currently continues to diminish in numbers. Scripps Institution of Oceanography researchers, we appreciate your alert to the plight of our dolphin friends. Let us unite to preserve these intelligent marine mammals through our greater respect for their well-being.
