미국 항공우주국의 제트 추진 연구소는 ５년간의 자료에 기초한 보고서를 발표했는데 이는 대양의 온도 상승에 따라 열대성 폭풍의 발생수와 강도가 증가하는 걸 보여줍니다. 대양 표면 온도가 １도 상승할 때마다 열대성 폭풍을 유발하는 높은 구름의 발생률이 ４５％ 증가합니다. 보고서에 의하면 지구 온난화가 이대로 계속되면 격렬한 폭풍이 점점 높은 빈도로 발생하게 됩니다. 시기의 절박함을 보여준 중요한 연구를 수행한 미 항공우주국 과학자들께 감사드립니다. 모두의 안전을 위해 더욱 지속 가능한 삶을 살고 불안정한 기후를 줄이도록 지금 다같이 행동합시다.

칭하이 무상사: 인과의 법칙은 항상 옳습니다. 따라서 스스로를 구할 수 있는 유일한 길은 자비로워지고 더욱 고귀한 생활방식으로 바꾸는 겁니다. 육류도 먹지 않고 동물성 제품도 피하면 기후가 즉각 변하는 걸 볼 수 있습니다. 모든 게 더 평화롭고 풍부하게 회복될 거예요. 천국은 자비롭기 때문이죠. 우린 천국처럼 자비로워져야 해요. 그럼 우린 천국을 경험할 수 있지요. 이런 재난을 방지할 다른 방법은 없습니다. 여러분에게 할 수 있는 유일한 이야기지요. 지금 우리가 하는 방법은 여러모로 파괴적입니다. 육체적, 정신적, 과학적, 도덕적으로요. 그건 다 잘못된 거예요. 우린 남에게 고통을 일으키니 그 대가로 행복을 기대할 수 없어요. 우리가 해온 일은 우리에게 재난과 문제를 가져오며 아주 가까운 미래에 대량 파괴를 가져올 겁니다. 따라서 좋은 결과를 얻고 싶다면 우린 선행을 시작해야 해요. 채식을 하고 환경을 보호하고 선행을 하세요. 

어울락(베트남)이 기후변화 정책을 실시합니다.

지구 온난화의 최대 피해국 중 하나인 어울락(베트남)의 응옌 떤 중 총리는 기후변화의 단기 및 장기적 영향을 해결하기 위해 1억3천5백만 달러의 국가 실천 계획을 발표했습니다. 이 계획안의 핵심은 지역의 기후변화 영향 평가, 대중에게 홍보, 지역 수준의 해결 방안 계획입니다. 시민들과 환경을 보호하기 위해 헌신하는 어울락(베트남)과 총리를 치하합니다. 귀국의 계획이 성공하여 기후변화를 완화하고 생태계의 균형을 회복하길 바랍니다.

영국이 홍수 위험에 대처할 것을 촉구합니다.

미국 동부의 산화질소 배출이 감소됩니다.

NASA observations link tropical storms to global warming.

The US National Aeronautic Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory has released a report based on five years of collected data showing that the number and severity of tropical storms increase as ocean temperatures rise.

For every degree Centigrade increase in ocean surface temperature, a 45-percent rise was seen in the occurrence of very high clouds that cause tropical storms. The study further stated that the present rate of global warming will bring an increasingly higher frequency of severe storms.

Two million flood-danger residents 'are not aware they are at risk'

British called to preparedness in face of flood risks. According to the British Environmental Agency, two million Britons are unaware that their house and belongings could be quickly lost to swelling rivers or the rising sea. In 2007, extreme flooding affected 55, 000 homes, with 1,000 families who are still staying in temporary living arrangements.

Nitrogen oxide emissions reduced in eastern US.

The United States US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) annual report noted that its regional cap and trade program in the eastern United States resulted in a 60 percent decrease in 2007 summertime nitrogen oxide emissions compared to the year 2000. The program, which received 99 percent compliance among participants, showed the biggest air quality improvements in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, West Virginia, and Kentucky. 10,000 households to be lit up by solar power in Monaragala District

Sri Lanka illuminated with solar power. Assisted by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka is implementing a solar energy project in the island’s southern Monaragala district, which will bring electricity to an initial 400 homes and 60 schools in the region, with an expansion to 10,000 homes once completed. This sustainable project is being implemented by the non-profit Athens Network of Collaborating Experts and a Sri Lankan youth organization.
