Interview with Supreme Master Television By Irish Independent newspaper November 21, 2008

Andrea Bonnie – Journalist (F):
Each second, an area of the size of a football field of tropical rainforest is destroyed to produce 257 hamburgers. Do you feel that if the public were to know this information that they would move to a more sustainable diet?

Supreme Master Ching Hai: Yes, in my opinion, they would. The problem is very little of this information such as this is propagated for the public knowledge. We are inundated with many other news, which is not all as urgent as saving the forests and saving the planet, of course.

The world leaders, I think, in my humble opinion, they should work together in this important issue. And so does the media. And by the way thank you, you are one of the positive and we’re grateful. You’re helping the environment.

The full article presenting this conversation with Supreme Master Ching Hai will be published in the Irish Independent, the most widely read daily newspaper in Ireland, to be available in all SHOPS, NEWSPAPER STANDS AND AIRPORTS NATIONWIDE IN IRELAND AND THROUGHOUT THE UNITED KINGDOM ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2008. (Print this big & capitalized)

VOICE: We salute Ms. Andrea Bonnie and Irish Independent for being part of the media that brings important information to light at this most critical time. We are especially grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for her deep concern and unwavering faith in humankind to make wise choices. May the leaders and media of our world dare to help people do so as well – to save what is precious, including the rainforests, the animals’ lives and our own. The interview will also be broadcast at a later date on Supreme Master Television’s Words of Wisdom.

Global Warming Declaration To Be Signed In California

World leaders pledge cooperation on reducing greenhouse gases. A two-day global climate summit was held in California, USA led by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and joined by governors of 13 US states as well as representatives from Canada, Mexico, India, Indonesia, and Brazil. During their conference, participants pledged cooperation in the areas of technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, make adaptations to climate change and transform carbon-intensive industries.

We express our appreciation, Your Excellency and all participants, for your wise leadership and willing accord. Blessed be your continued work together in bringing plentiful green benefit to both fellow citizens and our magnificent planet.

Qatar and UN pave way for paper-free global conferences

UN minimizes paper usage in conferences. Announcing a goal to achieve paper-free conferences, the United Nations Environment Program’s (UNEP) Executive Director Achim Steiner highlighted the millions of tons of CO2 that are released from paper-manufacture and print-related activities. As a first trial of this new initiative, UNEP and the government of Qatar have partnered to provide laptops to delegates at a conference on ozone protection in Doha. The laptops contain software that allows the 150 nation participants to share and update conference documents, with another paperless conference also planned for February 2009. United Nations Environment Program and Qatar, we laud this recent green advancement! Blessed be your efforts in motivating others toward similar innovations to restore the health of our ecosphere.

Wild beavers return to Britain after 400 years

Scotland welcomes the return of wild beavers. Following a request made by Scottish wildlife organizations to re-introduce this wetlands ally to the wild for the first time in over 400 years, four families of beavers from Norway have arrived in London, United Kingdom. Iain Valentine of the United Kingdom’s Royal Zoological Society, explained the care with which the beavers had been handled, saying, “The team in Norway spent long periods of time in specific sites to identify complete family groups, ensuring that none are left behind.” After a quarantine period, the beavers will be released in Argyll, Scotland, where their presence is expected to quickly contribute to the balance of the region’s ecosystems.

Our deep gratitude, Royal Zoological Society other wildlife organizations and United Kingdom, for your initiative in returning our helpful beaver friends to the wild. With God’s blessings, may they enjoy fruitful lives in the natural environs of their homeland.
