Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Nepal.
In early January, frigid temperatures caused at least 20 people to lose their lives in southern Nepal, while schools closed and hospitals were overwhelmed with patients suffering from cold-related illness.

Bijay Chaudhary – District Vice Chief Officer, Nepal Red Cross Society (M): There was a little sunlight for about half an hour a few days back, but it could not give any relief, and even now it is very difficult for us to tell as to how many days this cold wave will prevail.

VOICE: Sending her condolences and love, Supreme Master Ching Hai had donated US$5,000 and asked that our nearby Association members please go to distribute blankets for warmth to those most in need.

This amount could purchase US$193,000 in supplies if obtained in the United States, based on Nepal’s cost of living. Our Association’s relief team in Nepal went to the afflicted Mahottary District where they worked with local officials and the Red Cross to purchase and deliver hundreds of thick winter blankets.

Bijay Chaudhary (M): Supreme Master Ching Hai International has distributed one blanket to each for 543 families which will immensely help the helpless and old people to protect them from the cold wave.
And for this I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai.

VOICE: The relief team sought to ensure care for the most vulnerable, including the disadvantaged, homeless, the elderly, and the disabled.

Blind relief recipient (M): You gave me this blanket to protect me from the cold and make me warm, for which I once again like to offer you many, many bows. Thank you Master!

Relief recipient (F): Thank you Supreme Master for giving us the blankets for saving us from the cold.

VOICE: Our appreciation, Nepalese government officials and Red Cross for your assistance to the cold-stricken. We also join in thanking Supreme Master Ching Hai for her timely and unconditional aid, and our Association’s relief team for their prompt actions. Our prayers that the Nepalese people will be well and protected, and that through our own merciful actions, the Earth’s climate may stabilize.
