Somalia appoints new prime minister. Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed named Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Thursday as the country’s next prime minister. Mr. Mohamed, who holds both Somali and US citizenship, has served as a diplomat in Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has taught diplomacy skills at a college in New York, USA as well as working in several government roles within the state of New York. Once his appointment is approved by the Somali parliament, Prime Minister Mohamed will appoint the nation’s next Cabinet.
