Puerto Rico City bans monkey prison for experiments. The municipality of Guayama in Puerto Rico has enacted a new law to ban the import, export or use of monkeys for laboratory experiments. The new regulation has thus prohibited one company's plan to capture more than 4,000 monkeys from Africa’s Mauritius, force them to reproduce and then sell their offspring to the US and other countries' laboratories to suffer cruel experimentation and eventual death. This measure was assisted by the activism of organizations such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the Bar Association of Puerto Rico, US-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection.

Our accolades and admiration, city of Guayama, Puerto Rico, and all involved animal welfare organizations for your caring efforts to safeguard cherished primates from harm. May the day come soon that humanity offers our animal co-inhabitants only protection and love, bringing a world of greater harmony for all.
