On Thursday, April 15, Tanzania naturalized 162,000 previously displaced Burundi people, many of whom had been living in the country since 1972.

Commending the action as the most generous of its kind anywhere, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) encouraged other countries to do similarly.

Former refugee Mr. Festo Bizimaana said,"Today marks a new era in my life and I will make the most of it." Additionally, the Tanzanian government has pledged to allocate land to the new citizens
to help them grow food and integrate into their new homeland. Heaven bless Tanzania as we join in lauding your generous actions of welcome for Burundian brethren. Wishing the new residents lives of abundant goodness and joy.
