Former soldiers pardoned in the Philippines. Philippine President Benigno Aquino III has signed a proclamation granting amnesty to over 300 imprisoned soldiers as part of a larger effort toward a goal of national unity. Once approved by Congress, the presidential pardon will restore the soldiers’ civil and political rights, military benefits, as well as clearing their names of any charges.

Your Excellency, we appreciate your decision of clemency. Wishing the newly freed many happy reunions with loved ones and that the lives of these and all fellow Philippine citizens may be graced with abundant stability and peace.
