Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visits Palestine. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the Russian leader at the governor’s residence in the ancient city of Jericho, where the two discussed Middle East peace efforts as well as humanitarian aid from Russia to Palestine, and signed several bilateral agreements. President Medvedev also reaffirmed his nation’s commitment to the recognition of an independent Palestine, saying, “The creation of such a state would be beneficial to everyone – Palestinians, Israelis, and the entire region. That is what we should aim for.”

Our respectful accolades, Your Excellencies, for this amicable visit that furthers your cooperative relations. May Palestinians and Russians alike prosper in dignity and fulfillment as we look forward to the prevailing of shared respect and peace across the Middle East.
