In animal news, Paula the canine enhances a classroom’s atmosphere. The friendly golden retriever has been accompanying her caregiver, teacher Ms. Bettina Brecht, to her class for the last five years. The children help take care of Paula, making sure that her water bowl is full and that she is not disturbed when she is in her corner. Paula in turn brings the students their papers and interacts with them. Ms. Brecht stated that Paula’s presence encourages a more relaxed interaction between teacher and students and helps the youngsters increase their self-confidence.

Bravo, beautiful Paula, on being a wonderful assistant. May you and your caregiver, Ms. Bettina Brecht, have many more joyous years to continue enriching the learning experiences and lives of eager students.
