Dog receives new prosthetic paw. When an accident left canine companion Polo with a gravely injured leg, Sam and Paula Swift of Tennessee, USA initially thought they would have to amputate or commit to multiple surgeries with an uncertain outcome. However, as a third option presented itself, they decided to request a prosthetic paw. Although relatively new, the prosthetic choice came with little risk and actually cost only about a third of the surgeries that had no guarantee of success. Following a fitting with the initial device, the white Siberian husky is now using a temporary prosthetic that is being studied for wear so it can then be customized to a perfect fit. Meanwhile, the Swifts are glad to see that Polo is completely mobile and has returned to comfortable behaviors such as curling up in the snow.

Our appreciation for this new technique and to Sam and Paula Swift for your loving decision of care for the snow-white angel Polo. May his new life be graced with ease of movement and many more treasured moments with his human family.
