Dog rescued after eight hours underground. British firefighters and over 30 villagers worked to free a border collie that had become trapped somewhere along a length of underground pipe in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. Thanks to the use of cameras and other tools to determine the canine’s location as well as the cooperative efforts of all involved, the dog emerged safely into the arms of one of the firefighters. Fire station manager Tony Bennet said, “There was never any thought of giving up, even when we started to fear that it might all be too late to save the dog.”

Hats off for your dedicated and lifesaving efforts, Buckinghamshire firefighters and community members. Wishing the border collie continued love and comfort as we are reminded to similarly protect all cherished animal companions and co-inhabitants.
