Sri Lankan Navy inaugurates whale watching. On Monday, January 31, the nation’s Navy announced the launch of a whale watching program where visitors aboard the Navy’s passenger vessels can enjoy whale tours. The idea was initiated by Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, who said that Sri Lanka is privileged to have such resources that are not available to other countries. A naval vessel is initially scheduled to sail four times a week at affordable rates for both foreign and Sri Lankan visitors.

A big hats off, Sri Lankan Navy for this caring use of military resources to better understand and appreciate our marine animal friends. May many visitors be graced with the presence of the magnificent whales to foster ever expanding respect for these and all such beings bestowed by the Divine.
