US giant sequoias trees jeopardized by global warming. Our appreciation, scientists, for this important report. May God guide us all in taking the necessary steps to protect our beautiful and diverse flora and fauna! http://www.scrippsnews.com/node/32257 Chief Oren Lyons Chief Oren Lyons: As we could see, it was a long time coming…And a short time very short time building. Chief Oren Lyons is a Native American professor of American Studies at the State University of New York, and a Chief of the Onondaga Nation Council of Chiefs within the Iroquois Confederacy. Supreme Master Television was invited to the Swedish Parliament where we had the chance to speak with Chief Lyons about his views on climate change. Chief Oren Lyons: We’ve been getting these reports from the north country, from Alaska, from northern Canada, from Greenland, from Sweden, from the different traditional people up on the Polar Cap. We’re aware of the changes that are occurring, the lack of snow, the warming of the Earth and how it’s affecting the animals, how it’s affecting the people who live there. There’s an acceleration to it. The message that I’m carrying is that time is a very important factor now. We don’t have a lot of time for reflection. A shift in the focus of our values is what Chief Oren Lyons says is necessary for the changes we must make. Chief Oren Lyons: The conclusion at the Global Forum of Spiritual and Parliamentary Leaders reached in 1991 was four words: Value Change for Survival. If you don’t change your values, you’re just not going to survive. Because the values that are supporting and promoting the lifestyles today is what is challenging the natural resources. We thank Chief Oren Lyons and all the leaders who are speaking boldly on climate change for the survival of theirs and all communities around the world. May we begin today to make the value changes and actions needed to save the cherished natural resources of our Mother Earth. |
