International conferences with Supreme Master Ching Hai.
On Saturday, in Pathumthani, near Bangkok, Thailand, the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association hosted both an SOS Stop Global Warming Seminar as well as the book release of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s #1 international bestselling book, “The Birds in My Life” in its Aulacese (Vietnamese) edition.
Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai SOS Stop Global Warming Seminar Thailand – October 11, 2008
The global warming seminar began with lectures by distinguished representatives from the Asian Institute of Technology, the United Nations and the Thai Parliament. Supreme Master Ching Hai was invited as the guest of honor. She graciously provided time to answer questions from the attending dignitaries, many of whom were from academia and government.
Representative of Mrs. Prasertsuk Chamornmarn – Director of the Office of Natural Resources and Environment Policy and Planning (ONEP) (F): How should a community prepare for the upcoming effects of global warming?
Supreme Master Ching Hai : We can only wait and see, because we don’t know when it will strike us and where and what we can prepare anyway. Even if we stockpile some food and all that, it is not always helpful. It just makes the world food shortage worsen. So we can only rely on the good karma that we can create. And that we can do. We can save ourselves right now by turning to vegetarian diet which is benevolent, which is very compassionate, and by being compassionate to others, Heaven will be compassionate to us.
VOICE: The book launch that followed the seminar continued the clear message being conveyed in the day’s earlier discussion: Supreme Master Ching Hai’s reminder to love all beings, including our animal co-inhabitants.
Videoconference with Supreme Master Ching Hai Book Premiere “The Birds in My Life” Aulacese version Thailand – October 11, 2008
Supreme Master Ching Hai : We hope that one day the whole world will be awakened to love and protect one another, including the innocent animals, so that Heaven can have mercy on us and spare our lives as well as those of our children, and for the Earth to continue to exist for everyone to enjoy.

Global warming dries carbon-storing peat lands.
A Japanese study using computer modeling found that the drying caused by continued rising temperatures in ancient peat marshes will potentially release large amounts of stored carbon dioxide. Takeshi Ise from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology explained that up to 86 percent of the land’s stored carbon could be lost, saying, “This… means an increase in carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere, which will further worsen global warming.”
Dr. Takeshi Ise and colleagues, we appreciate these new insights into the effects of climate change and we pray that humanity’s steps lead to a path that restores the balance of our precious planetary home.
