Carbon emissions from a single Indonesian province exceed those of advanced industrial nations. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) recently issued a report on the Indonesian province of Riau, which over the past 25 years has added massive amounts of CO2 greenhouse gases to the atmosphere through a 65% loss of her once-verdant forests and ancient peat-bogs.

Besides the CO2 emissions, which are a result of paper and palm oil operations, the deforestation has placed the region's wildlife in great jeopardy. Thank you, World Wide Fund for Nature, for your timely and vital report.

We pray that the people of the world will work together to halt the destruction in places like Riau and save our life-sustaining natural habitats across the globe.
