A report in China-based CCTV news on July 6, 2011 states that the Cambodian non-profit Sustainable Green Fuel Enterprise has developed a process to transform discarded coconut husks into a green source of fuel that provides jobs while reducing CO2 emissions and preventing rainforest trees from being felled.

A UN study forecasts that 30 Middle Eastern and North African nations will face water scarcity by 2025, including Egypt, Israel, Somalia, Libya and Yemen, which, along with climate change effects such as increased insects and disease  are likely to create further food shortages as well.
