Climate change pushes penguins even farther from home.
This year, over a thousand birds washed ashore as much as 3,000 kilometers away from their northerly Patagonia nesting region. Experts believe that pollution and other global warming related changes are causing the birds to have to migrate farther in search of food. Brazil’s air force and navy have offered to transport the penguins that have survived to an area where they can easily return to their native habitat.

Brazil, many thanks for your helping hand to the many feathered visitors that arrived on your shores. May this trend serve as yet another warning sign of our need to adopt sustainable lifestyles that restore the balance of our shared biosphere.
