The federally funded Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is available to elementary school districts containing a higher percentage of young students from low-income families.
These students receive free ready-to-eat fresh snacks, with a goal of promoting healthy habits as well as increasing economic benefit to local growers.
US Representative Sam Farr, who advocates locally grown produce, remarked, “How do we grow a healthier America? How do we deliver health care? We have to have America eat vegetables and it all starts with schools.”
What a wonderful way to nourish our children and instill early healthy trends! Kudos Representative Farr and United States for your support of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program and its abundant benefits to our precious youth.
