Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association relief news update from Pakistan.
Beginning in mid February 2010, at least 102 people perished as heavy snowfall and avalanches buried homes in the Northwest Frontier province of Pakistan.

Conveying her heartfelt condolences and prayers, Supreme Master Ching Hai donated US$15,000, which could purchase US$268,000 in urgent aid in the United States, based on Pakistan’s cost of living, also asking that our Association members go help the most vulnerable.

As soon as possible, our Association’s relief team from Singapore traveled to Pakistan, covering their own travel expenses of US$2,500.

Supreme Master Television Correspondent (M): We are here at Kohistan District Pakistan. Heavy snowfall and avalanches buried many houses and blocked the access road, thus cutting their food supply.

VOICE: About 800 families from the Kandia Valley of Kohistan District were affected. Accompanied by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, our Association members first went to the region’s Sayal Dara.

Supreme Master Television Correspondent (M): Our relief team has prepared 850 packages of food supplies for distribution with the help of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

VOICE: Purchased with the assistance of the local NGO, All Green Pakistan, the aid included rice, wheat flour, dahl, oil, salt and sugar, as well as monetary funds.

The relief recipients were very glad to see the relief team coming from far away to help them, and expressed their gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai and our Association.

Relief recipient, Sayal Dara, Kohistan District, Pakistan (M): Because of this heavy snowfall and avalanches, 137 houses have been completely destroyed and all roads were blocked, but they have recently been re-opened.

We need food and non-food items, as it was one of the biggest disasters in recorded history of Kohistan, so we are thankful to all of you who have come here.

VOICE: Meanwhile, as the worst afflicted Bagroo Dara remained isolated, the relief team gave food relief to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society to distribute to the affected families as soon as travel was possible.

Mr. Talib Jan – District Disaster Management Officer of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Kohistan District, Pakistan (M): I am really very much thankful to the Supreme Master Ching Hai for sending your team to the remotest corner of the country.

Supreme Master Television Correspondent (M): This is Supreme Master Television reporting from Kohistan district Pakistan

VOICE: We send our deep appreciation to Pakistan Red Crescent Society and All Green Pakistan for their gracious assistance. We also thank Supreme Master Ching Hai for her wholehearted care for the people of Pakistan, as well as our Association’s relief team for their dedicated endeavors to help those in need.

May Allah bless the gentle Pakistani people with a swift restoration of comfort as such circumstances are alleviated through humanity’s gentler regard of the ecosphere.
