Indonesia’s Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan announces plans to rehabilitate degraded forests, plantations, ex-mining areas, and damaged river basin regions throughout the country by planting 1.5 billion trees by year's end with the participation of 10,000 community nursery gardens.

In a study by Baylor University researchers in Texas, USA, drought conditions are found to worsen the degree of pH shifts in water, making pesticides and other chemicals more toxic to fish, with a higher probability of pollutants accumulating in their tissues.
