United Nations panel votes in favor of nuclear non-proliferation resolution. At a United Nations General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, October 26, a proposal initiated by member state Japan and submitted each year since 1994 was co-sponsored this year by a record number of countries, including the United States. In a vote held during the meeting, 154 nations supported the nuclear disarmament resolution, which commits to the complete elimination of nuclear arms across the globe. Speaking to the press, Japan's permanent representative to the Conference on Disarmament, Akio Suda, conveyed his nation’s hope that the resolution’s adoption will help speed the pace of nuclear disarmament throughout the international community.

Bravo and our earnest thanks, Representative Akio Suda, Japan, supporting member states of the United Nations and all who are working to create a world free of nuclear weapons. May the day soon arrive when all co-inhabitants enjoy the shared goal of a safe and peaceful world.
