A study led by Dr. Julie R. Palmer of Boston University in the USA looked at the diet of nearly 45,000 women of African descent, as this group is considered twice as vulnerable to diabetes as their Caucasian counterparts.

The research found that those women who ate fast food burgers twice a week were at a 40% increased risk of Type 2 diabetes and that the risk went up to 68% for those who ate fast food fried chicken twice a week.

Our appreciation, Dr. Palmer and fellow Boston University scientists for showing us yet another link between meat consumption and disease. May your work serve to encourage the adoption of a diet based in fresh fruits and vegetables for the health of all cherished members of society.
