On Sunday, October 16, 100-year-young Fauja Singh completed a marathon in Toronto, Canada, becoming the first centenarian and oldest person to ever accomplish the 26.2 mile (42.1 kilometer) run.
This makes eight total marathons that Mr. Singh has now completed in his lifetime, all accomplished after the age of 89. Affectionately known as the Turbaned Tornado, he attributes his optimal health to consuming a vegetarian diet, drinking water and tea with ginger while abstaining from alcohol or smoking, and daily exercise.
His runs are also conducted for charities, especially those that benefit children.
Bravo and a big salute, Mr. Fauja Singh for your remarkable achievements and long-lived health. May many others be inspired toward such vibrant longevity through the wholesome and humane plant-based fare.
