Famous British store bans foie gras. On Wednesday, November 17, the celebrated London department store Harvey Nichols promised to eliminate foie gras from its restaurant menus. The pledge followed an appeal to the company made by legendary British actor Sir Roger Moore, best known for his role as James Bond. Sir Roger has been working with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in a campaign to raise awareness and put a stop to the cruel process of making foie gras, which involves force-feeding ducks and geese with metal tubes. Harvey Nichols, which has already removed the product from its store shelves, will also remove it from restaurants as of 2011. The actor now plans to encourage other renowned London stores toward similar elimination of foie gras.

Our grateful thanks, Sir Roger Moore and PETA, and bravo Harvey Nichols, for your conscientious endeavors to put a stop to the cruelty of foie gras. Let us all strive to create a more harmonious world for all beings by choosing the healthy, delicious, and life-affirming plant-based fare.
